How to Incorporate Play Into Your Life

How do you play?

And, is there a pattern of how you play?

When I got asked this question I had to think hard about what play means to me, I know what play means to the child version of me, but what does the adult version of me like to do.

And then it dawned on me that I don’t know how to play. I’ve been caught up in life’s rat race that I have forgotten to find joy, I am so focused on achieving the next goal.

This led me to research about the concept of play, Dr Stuart Brown is known for his experiments on humans and animals and the influence play has on emotional health, problem-solving abilities, and social connections.

He believes there are eight different types of play personalities.

From now on, my intention is to incorporate more play and joy into my life. As an explorer, this might mean learning about new topics and as a storyteller, it could involve writing about what I’ve learned — much like I’m doing here.

Find out your play personality today.
